10KW Solar System
10kW Solar System
Do you have high energy needs (and even higher bills)? Do you have a larger than average house or run a small commercial operation?
Are you looking to reduce your power bills between 50 to 80 percent, Then a 10kW solar system could be the answer you’ve been waiting for. A 10kW solar system is as large as most residential houses realistically have space for and will produce a massive 50kWh per day on average over the course of the year.
That’s enough electricity for the largest family and will easily power all your appliances, heating and cooling needs as well as a swimming pool, spa pool and all those power-hungry tools in the workshop.
A 10kW solar power system gives you real peace of mind knowing that you’ve got all the power you need when you want it. Your family can be warm in winter and cool in summer, there’s plenty of hot water for everyone, and it’s not hurting the environment.
A 10kW system is also ideal for small to medium sized commercial operations. You’ll have plenty of electricity whether you’re running a busy restaurant or you need 3-phase power for a mechanical workshop.
Join the growing movement of people who want to harness the sun’s free energy with a 10kW solar system and you’ll also benefit from some of the lowest solar system prices in the world.
When you install a 10kW solar system you’ll benefit from Australia’s:
- Sunny weather
- Low installation costs
- Financial incentives and rebates
An average of 2600 hours of sunshine across NSW each year provides a real powerhouse of free electricity. Combine that with the low cost of solar system installation and the government’s generous financial incentives and going solar makes real sense.
The federal rebate is around $700 for every kW of solar capacity plus you can get money back when you feed the excess electricity you generate back into the grid. This solar feed-in tariff (or solar buy back) is worth around in 16 cents per kWh in NSW. This adds up to a considerable sum each year.
10kW Solar System Price
So what does a 10kW solar system cost? Will it make financial sense for your situation?
A 10kW solar system is usually a very cost-effective way to power your home or business. How much can you expect to spend on investing in a 10kW solar system?
How quickly will you start making a profit from your new system?
Typically, you’ll be enjoying zero power bills from day one. We expect our solar systems to pay for themselves within 4 years. And the excess after that equals money in your pocket.
What's the 10kW System Cost?
Each 10kW solar installation may differ slightly but most 10kW systems will cost around $10,000 for the complete solar system installed.
We offer a range of products and your choice of inverter, solar panels, and battery backup if required will affect the final cost of the system.
There are other aspects that will influence the final cost such as shaded areas, the roof height and angle and any challenges involving access to your roof.
One of the most critical components in any solar system is the inverter. We recommend a Fronius 10kW Symo inverter. We also supply high quality Enphase, and SMA inverters if you prefer.
You can get cheaper inverters but with our premium quality inverters you get optimal performance, exceptional durability, and invaluable warranties. Government subsidies for solar system installations are worth up to $7000 or more for a 10kW system.
Do I Need Battery Backup?
Battery backup offers real benefits depending on how you use electricity and the level of solar feed-in tariffs available to you.
Batteries for a 10kW solar unit may cost as much as $14,000 but the payback time for our systems is generally around 4 years so battery backup can make a great investment.
Single Phase Versus 3 Phase Power?
Electricity may be supplied to your home via either a single phase or a 3-phase connection.
It depends on where you live and your power supplier but there may be restrictions on the permitted size of your solar system.
We design our system as a 3 phase system and so use one of the best 3 phase inverters on the market: the 10 kW Fronius Symo.
10kW Solar System with Battery Backup
Adding battery backup to your 10kW system means you can store the excess power you don’t use during the day to power your home at night.
Battery backup means you have free electricity to use during the peak evening time periods when most electricity companies charge their highest power rates.
Battery backup also means you’ll still have power when there is a power outage on the grid.
Battery Backup Products
We believe that Tesla or LG lithium ion batteries offer stand out energy efficient performance and the best value for money.
Lithium ion batteries are the way of the future. Their advantages include:
- Higher energy efficiency
- Faster charge time
- Greater storage capacity
- More consistent output
- Thrive in temperature extremes
Lithium batteries do cost more than older lead-acid batteries but the benefits ensure an exceptional return on your investment.
What's the Battery Backup Cost?
The Lithium batteries are more expensive than older lead-acid batteries but the advantages pay for the additional costs many times over.

10kW Solar System - How Many Panels?
You’ll usually need between 30 and 34 panels for a 10kW system and so you’ll probably need to allow around 50 to 60 m2 of roof space.
We believe the following products are some of the best on the market:
- Canadian Solar 320 (32 panels = 10.08kW)
- LG NeON 335 (32 panels = 10.72 kW)
- Trinia 315 panels (32 panels = 10.08 kW)
These panels boast exceptional performance, output efficiency and lengthy warranties.

Trina panels are backed by an industry-leading 25-year Limited Manufacturer’s Warranty and a strong track record of reliability and performance in the field. As a vertically integrated company, Trina Solar oversees the quality of its products across the supply chain, and all Trina panels undergo in-house testing and independent, third-party certification.
10kW Solar System - Output Per Day
A 10 kW solar system will easily power the most energy hungry households.
The average Australian home (without a swimming pool) uses around 20kWh (kilowatt hours) of electricity each day and a 10kW solar system will generate as much as 40 or 50kW per day.
A number of factors will affect how quickly your system pays for itself including the total system output, the level of solar feed-in tariffs you can earn, and how you use your power. But it’s our mission to design systems that pay for themselves in 4 years or less.
Key factors to pay attention to when installing solar systems include:
- Hours of peak sunlight
- Areas of shade
- Panels orientation
3 Phase / Single Phase 10kW Solar System
There are two systems for delivering electricity from the grid to most homes in Australia: single phase or 3 phase. Most smaller homes and businesses will probably be running on single phase.
Many electricity providers may require any solar system larger than 5kW to use a 3 phase setup. This will require specific inverters that are able to balance the variable loads on each phase.
Our 10kW solar system is designed for 3 phase applications and the Fronius Symo inverter is the perfect partner for the job. The Fronius inverter is one of the most efficient inverters on the market and boasts a well-earned reputation for durability.
It’s important to have some understanding of how much power your appliances actually use. Be aware too that some appliances use considerably more power when you first start them and you need to take this into account.
Here is a really good calculator that will help you understand how your actual power requirements can add up. This tool helps you calculate how many hours of sun you can expect and the potential amount of electricity generation possible in your locale.
Installation
To have your solar system installed on the roof will require a roof space of at least 60m2. Ground mounting is also an option although very few residential houses will have the space for this.
Most installations take just one day or a little longer if there are additional challenges such as extreme roof pitch or height. The correct orientation of your solar panels is very important and we supply adjustable frames that enable us to achieve the optimal angle for solar conversion efficiency.
Solar panels are usually installed on the roof, and most installations take one day.
